Cleary things are shifting in the world, and it is getting darker day by day. In spite of the darkness, you have been anointed by God to shine brightly in this world. In Matthew 5:14-16 (KJV) Jesus said, “[14] Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. [15] Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. [16] Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Think about verse 15 of Matthew chapter 5—Jesus uses the candle and the bushel as an analogy. He’s saying that we should not allow anything to conceal or hide our light. Rather, we should be shining brightly in the world so that everyone can clearly see in us the Jesus that we proclaim!
No matter how dark this world gets, you are a bright light that can shine the light of God’s love in the dark places of men’s lives. As Christians, we are the light of the world. We are to stand out— and not blend into society and, the world’s way of doing things.
The Apostle Paul tells us in II Corinthians 4:3-5a (KJV), “But if our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: [4] In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. [5] For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; …”
We have been anointed by God to carry the light of the glorious gospel of Christ!
As we do our part and tell Jesus’ story, that light penetrates the darkness causing the blinders to fall off! Men and women and boys and girls begin to see our Father’s unfailing love, Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice, and the power of the Holy Spirit. As we boldly stand as “lights” for Christ in this dark world, we embark upon a similar assignment as given to the Apostle Paul by Jesus in Acts 26:18:
“To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the
power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and
inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.”
So, unashamedly, proclaim Jesus because the people in the world are waiting to be “turned” from darkness to light. As Ambassadors for Christ, we have been designed by God to share Christ with the people in the world and not to fear them. So, let your light shine not only in this earth—but throughout all eternity!
Daniel 12:2-3: And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Therefore, don’t leave the world in darkness and spiritual despair. Let the light of God in you shine through to crush the darkness by witnessing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the people you encounter as you go about your daily travels. Witnessing is the first step in helping a person put their feet on the road to freedom from darkness and despair. Remember the key to real success in life is JESUS!
Be a Bold Witness for HIM!
